Pic of the Day

Project December: Day 1 & 2

I am excited to announce Project December! A friend of mine, and fellow F Stop Lounge colleague, Carly Gill of Carly Elizabeth Photography  invited me to join her in a 31 day photo challenge. Carly is an amazing "Photography and Life" coach, specializing in portrait and product photography. I am excited to join with her in this photography challenge. Be sure to check out her site and keep up with the images she will be creating and uploading every day with me this month.

So, this means I will keep the backlog on the back burner a little bit longer so that I can start fresh with it in 2014. But I will be taking a new photo to edit and upload every day this month. This will be tough but I am excited to finally get to do this. Follow along and feel free to join Carli and I in this Decembaventure :). Like, Comment, Share, and post your own work if you want to come along for the ride.

I was traveling for work yesterday but I did get my first photo in late at night. I am one day behind with uploading, but better late than never right ;)

This first photo is of a bridge on "City Island" in Harrisburg PA. This was a neat little island where the Harrisburg Senators play baseball. It was a bit creepy at night but it was filled with neat stuff and a riverside walking path. This bridge was a walking bridge that gave access to downtown Harrisburg from the island.

I was in Harrisburg shooting hockey over the weekend. While shooting I got the inside scoop on this location from the scorekeeper and the clock girl. Locals always know the best spots.

Just so I won't let this shot go without seeing the light of day (and so I won't cheat and just post this photo tomorrow ;)) I also got a nice shot of the city skyline from another cool spot they informed me on. Hope you enjoy :)

Sunday Dec 1

Alright, this is the last day of pre edited posts for now. I am finishing up shooting today and driving 12 hours home tonight. So tomorrow I should get to bring you some freshly edited photos tomorrow, once I sleep for a good 14 hours :).

Now this photo may not look like much but it is very special to me. This is one of the very first photos I ever took with my first DSLR. This is also THE first image I ever sold. So this is what started me on the path to what I am today and what I will become in the future. This made me realize that people thought I was good enough to pay me for my art, and that is a feeling that never gets old.

This is my beautiful city of Chattanooga TN. I love this city and think it is among the most beautiful cities in the world. One of my goals is to put Chattanooga on the map for beautiful photography. That's why I started the Chatturday Photo Walks, and why I continue to capture more and more photos of this amazing place year after year. I hope you enjoy this image and get the change to come enjoy this amazing city.

Saturday Nov 30

Half way through my trip to PA shooting hockey now, and bringing you yet another pre edited Pic of the Day. Now doctors say I really need my therapy time in photoshop so I can't wait to get back home to bring you freshly edited photos. But for a couple more days you will have to put up with these pre edited shots.

This shot here I got in late October on my way home from a job in Charlotte NC. I had plenty of time to drive home so I took the scenic route through the mountains, and I was glad I did. This was among several beautiful places I found when driving through the beautiful autumn painted smokeys. I hope you enjoy this image and I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time out of your day to come take a look at my work. It really means a lot to me and it helps me to stay motivated to follow my dreams. Thank you :)

Friday Nov 29

If you came by to check out yesterdays Pic of the Day then you know that I am in PA shooting hockey right now. So today is another pre selected post. Which means I was not able to do my therapeutic editing today so I am posting a previously edited photo.

This beach sunrise comes to you from Cancun Mexico. Where my Wife and I spent our honeymoon earlier this year. This was my first time flying over season even though technically we were still in Americas beard (mexico). It was the picture perfect honeymoon with the picture perfect woman.

We woke up early one morning to walk the beach and take in the Mexican sunrise, and I wouldn't be able to call myself a photographer if I left my camera behind. So every once in a while when I couldn't help myself, I stopped to take a seascape of the sunrise. I hope you enjoy this image :)

Thanksgiving

Since it's Thanksgiving I may be cheating a bit. I didn't actually go through and edit a photo today. That's right, I'm taking the day off. I am actually driving up to PA on Thanksgiving day (after eating with my family of course) to shoot some hockey. What can I say, I gotta pay the bills. So instead of getting my daily dose of editing time in, I have prepared a photo before hand so that I can post this from the road. Do forgive me.

This is a shot I took in Las Vegas earlier this year. I went out one night after shooting hockey for 16 hours and decided to do a little restrictive exercise in street photography. I taped off the back of my screen, set my camera and lens to manual settings and focus, and limited myself to 36 shots. I wanted to make sure that every shot I took counted and really make myself think about composition and settings on each and every photo. I also set my camera to shoot in black and white. However, when shooting in RAW format the sensor captures in color anyways which is lucky for me because I was able to get this shot of a street band performing over the strip that night.

When I went through the photos after returning to the hotel, this was among my favorite shots. Then when I got home and pulled this shot up in color in lightroom, I was blown away even more. It goes to show that when you really put thought and effort into shooting, the results show that hard work. This is one of my favorite street photography shots of 2013 and I hope you enjoy it as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to all :)
