Sometimes when walking around with your camera, you just see a shot. The lines look good, the world is stopped posing for you, and you are just in the right spot at the right time. I love those moments :)
On a recent work trip to Kansas City, I went out shooting with some colleagues. They took me to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. All I could say is WOW. First of all I had no idea KC was such an awesome place. They have done a great job at keeping that a secret. Secondly, this art museum was amazing. It was right next what is called the block building. Which I will post a photo of soon. But I could not get over the amazing architecture and grandeur of this beautiful museum.
Hope you Enjoy :)
On a recent family vacation to NYC, my wife and I spent a day wandering the city with our cameras, just looking for interesting shots. Now I'm sure if you have ever been out taking pictures with anyone you have run into this problem... That moment when you see them taking a photo and want to take it too? You know what I'm talking about, maybe you would have seen it on your own or maybe you wouldn't have, but either way you want the shot and they saw it first. This was exactly that kind of situation
So as a husband and wife/teacher and pupil type relationship, I actually really enjoy it when she stops for a shot that I didn't see, because I can see that she is getting better and better and it makes me happy and proud. So even though she gets mad because she thinks I will get a better shot, I will take a photo with her if it's too good to pass up. And this shot was just that.
She stopped as we came out of the New York Public Library and said she wanted this shot. I smiled because it was a great frame and I had just shown her earlier that day how to lower her shutter speed to get movement in her photos. This is what she was doing here, and it was the perfect place for it. So I came and took some shots with her. We shot there for 5 minutes or so, waiting for taxi's to fly by with pedestrians. We both walked away with good shots, and while she may have been mad that I took her shot that she found, I was happy to see her viewing the world with a photographers eye. #proudhubs
So I will say that my wife found this shot, and I stood next to her shooting and giving her pointers on shutter speed and settings and what not, but ultimately I must admit that this is her frame, but I had to put my bit of editing spin on it and I like it too much not to share it. (so forgive me babe ;))
Hope you enjoy :)
Today's Pic of the Day is one of my favorite photos from back before I designed my current logo. Just had my signature back then :). But this was a barn shot I got just pullin off the side of the road on my way home from a family photo shoot way out in the back country. Saw the sky start to light up and just found a spot to pull off and shoot, and was glad I did.
My HDR Processing has come a long way in the last few years, but I am glad to be able to look back and see that it wasn't too bad back then :) I think I just have a better eye for detail now.
Anyways, Hope you enjoy :)
Last summer, I was out in California shooting the Jr. Olympics of inline hockey, followed by the inline World Championships. Then I capped those two weeks off with the Vans Triple Crown in Huntington Beach. The surfing wasn't a paid gig it was just something I wanted to shoot while I was out there, and I loved it. It was my first time shooting surfing, and hopefully it wont be my last. It was such an awesome sport to shoot and I came away with some of my favorite images I have taken to date.
This black and white was among my favorites. I just love the contrast and detail in the water as this surfer rides this wave preparing for his next move up ahead. Anyways, I really like this image and I hope you enjoy it too :)
